iSuppli, a Californian company who has made a name for itself by getting new devices, breaking them in pieces, and then assessing the value each electronic component for an estimated figure of the product's "real" cost. According to them, each Nexus One contains about $174.15 worth of materials.
This does not take into consideration licensing fees, marketing budgets, and the design and development. All of that shoots the nexus one to $174 reserved to a number of service providers such as T-mobile (with a two year plan), or $529 if you want the phone unlocked.
iSuppli stated the iPhone was made of about $179 worth of material.
